Winter 08/09 - Saas Fee, Paris - le 60, le 10 et la BNF

After quite a hectic Michaelmas term in Oxford and not seeing the family at all, I decided it was time to take a break - at first it was going to be two weeks (Christmas week in Switzerland with the family and New Year's eve with Mike and the Bath gang in London); then it turned into a month, as I thought I would work in the French National Library where I could get more info for my thesis; and then into two months as I began to really appreciate being with the family, working in Paris and spending time with friends I hadn't seen in far too long! Dinners au 60, parties au 10, work at Bercy, evenings in the VIème and IIIème - I don't think I've appreciated Paris like I just have in a very long time! Maybe I had taken it too much for granted - people always say when I tell them I was brought up in Paris how lucky I am to be from the most beautiful city in the world - I always used to be blazé about it. I see it differently now.

I'm now back in Oxford, it's great to see everyone after quite a long time away. Now it's time for work in the G Room, walks in the meaddow, coffees in Jericho, tuesday nights at aldates and homemade dinners!
